About Us
The objective of Dungarvan Care of the Aged is the provision of services for the elderly of Dungarvan, Abbeyside and surrounding rural areas of west Co. Waterford.
Déise Day Centre is a purpose built facility that provides a ''home away from home'' for people over 65 where they can meet and join in social and therapeutic activities. We provide bus transport to and from home, Monday to Friday. We provide a hot nutritious meal and dessert, cooked daily in-house, at a reasonable cost and is delivered to our members that are housebound or convalescing. This gives great comfort and relief to member`s families.
We have scheduled weekly activities that include Yoga, Painting, Singing, Pongo, Music & Dance. We also organise special events, concerts and day trips throughout the year. Available at the centre are services/therapies at a subsidised cost that include chiropody, hairdressing and beauty therapy. We administer the Senior Alerts Scheme, a panic button system for elderly people.
We have an excellent team of trained, caring and trusting people including volunteers delivering our services with a voluntary Board of Management. The provision of these services helps keep members active and engaged and enables them to live with confidence and dignity in their own homes for longer. The ethos of our Day Centre is steeped in the principles of Health Promotion and we are constantly looking for new ways to meet the changing needs of our members.
We are committed to promoting the independence of our members, personally, medically, psychologically, socially and we advocate continuous quality improvements of their lives to the fullest extent possible.
