About Us

Dungarvan Agricultural Show is the only Agricultural Show in Co. Waterford. The Show is run under the auspices of the Irish Shows Association. The first show was held in the Fraher Field in 1917. Three years ago the Show date moved to run on the second Sunday in July moving from the traditional Thursday.

Dungarvan Show now takes place in Ballygagin on the outskirts of Dungarvan. We are indebted to the landowners Billy Queally, Tom and John Broderick, Liam Whelan and the Shanley family who give over their lands leading up to, during and after the Show. The O Grady, Sheehan and Walsh families also make land available when required.

What is Show Day about? The Show has evolved over the years and brings the Rural and Urban communities together for “Show Day”. Together with the traditional staples like the Home Industries marquee, Showjumping, Horse, Cattle, Sheep and Dog classes the Show now offers artisan producers an opportunity to display their produce in a specially assigned marquee. A Wellness marquee has been added helping to promote and encourage a Healthy lifestyle. Add to this a huge array of Trade Stands, Food Outlets, Kiddies Zone and special attractions like Line Dancing, Jiving, Tractor Pulling and Vintage Cars and Tractors. Every year the Committee endeavour to add new attractions.

Sponsors/Funding Sponsors are a vital part of the Show. We are lucky to have very loyal Sponsors and in recent years have been successful in attracting new Sponsors. There is always room for more! Their monetary support of the event is much appreciated. We are also fortunate to avail of funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development, Leader Programme, Waterford City & County Council and Dept of Agriculture, Food and Marine

Committee/Volunteers While there is a very hardworking and diligent Committee organising the Show, volunteers are hugely important. Without their help before, during and after the event it would be impossible to organise such a big and varied event on a “Green Field” site.
