'' The Waterford County Museum is housed in the Old Town Hall on St. Augustine Street, Dungarvan. It is basically divided up into two areas. One area contains items that are on permanent display and are usually of local interest. The other area has a space for temporary and visiting exhibitions.
Museum Opening Hours:
Staffed: Mon – Fri from 9am – 5pm
Open to the Public: 10am -1pm and 2pm – 4.30pm
Summer (mid May to mid September): Mon. – Sat. 10 am -1 pm & 2pm – 5pm.
The Waterford County Museum Society was founded to run the museum. The aims of the Society are :
To present the history of Dungarvan and west Waterford area through a series of well illustrated panels and displays.
To acquire and preserve individual items or collections of local interest
To encourage public interest in local history
Lectures are organised on a self financing basis, with both members and the general public paying admission fees. Field trips are organised on a regular basis. Waterford County Museum Society is a non-profit voluntary organisation.
